Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness is a huge deal. As the stars of “Marvel’s first horror film,” a lot is riding on Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff. The two have to make an impression not only for their film but for Marvel’s extensive horror catalogue at large. Ever since the days of Timely comics, the house of ideas has loved horror characters. If Doctor Strange 2 does well, it’s poised to offer filmmakers a chance to attack a number of properties. Here’s 5 different characters the MCU could mention in the film, or tackle in separate franchises in Phase 5 and beyond.
Werewolf By Night (Jack Russell)
Fans don’t know too much about how Marvel’s properties are divided. There have been a number of unusual connections, from Ego to Dark Phoenix. While so many of Marvel’s assets belong to other studios, they could still be mentioned even they can’t yet have properties of their own.
Jack Russell is a pretty minor character, but he’s a fun one. Sired by a European scholar and a warlock, Russell was left with the curse of being werewolf-born. He’s essentially the Wolfman, but he has a powerful connection to a number of characters in the MCU – including the X-Men, Rahne Sinclair and Deadpool. He was also a part of the Mercs for Money. As the MCU tilts towards more horror-themed characters, Jack Russell deserves a spotlight in Marvel’s horror properties if they can do him justice.
