According a report from The Hollywood Reporter, director Taika Waititi has signed a deal to write and direct the yet untitled fourth Thor film (“Thor 4”).
Star Chris Hemsworth is also expected to return to reprise his role as Thor.
Most recently the director reprised his voice role of Korg in Avengers: Endgame, though no word if we’ll see that character show up in the new movie given the indication Thor has left New Asgard behind.
Thor 4 is just one of the many upcoming Marvel films in development, and fans will likely get new information about “Phase 4” films at Marvel Studio’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation on Saturday July 20th.
Other upcoming Marvel films in development include Black Widow, The Eternals and Shang-Chi.
Waititi was previously linked to a live-action adaptation of popular Japanese magna Akira. That project is now reportedly on hold.
Waititi’s next film is Jojo Rabbit, opening October 18 and starring fellow MCU alum Scarlett Johansson.
