One of the many upcoming Marvel Studios shows on the coming Disney+ streaming service is Hawkeye that will feature Jeremy Renner back in the role of Clint Barton as well as the MCU debut of Kate Bishop. While the series won’t arrive in a while, the project has finally found its showrunner!
The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Jonathan Igla (Mad Men) will officially be writing and executive produce the Marvel archer drama. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is attached to executive produce the series.
While little is known about the series other than Clint taking Kate under his wing to pass on the Hawkeye mantle to her, the series is expected to consist of six-eight episodes per season. This is one of several MCU shows that are in the works as Disney+ is developing Loki, WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight series as well.
Igla’s other credits include Masters of Sex, Pitch, Shut Eye, and Sorry for Your Loss. According to THR, with Igla now joining the Hawkeye series, it completes “most of the key creative” recruitment for the Phase 4 line-up from WandaVision having Jac Schaeffer as showrunner, Michael Waldron attached to lead Loki to Malcolm Spellman working on Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Hawkeye arrives on Disney+ sometime in Fall 2021.
