While it looked dark after the big news that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios had ended their collbaration on Spider-Man films, Peter Parker’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been saved. Sony and Marvel have reached a new deal to produce the third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland, per Variety!
But the news doesn’t stop there as not Holland’s Spidey will appear in one more future Marvel Studios film. The sequel, which set to open on July 16, 2021, will once again be produced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige as well as Amy Pascal. Feige said the following about the exciting news:
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
