Director Scott Derrickson Exits Doctor Strange Sequel

Marvel confirmed today that Scott Derrickson will no longer direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU,” Marvel said in a statement to Variety.

Derrickson, who helmed the first Doctor Strange film, will still executive produce the film according to a tweet he posted.

Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.

The film is scheduled to be released May 7, 2021.
