Mark Ruffalo On She-Hulk Appearance

Mark Ruffalo wants to return to the MCU as the “Professor Hulk” last seen in Avengers: Endgame. The jolly-green-not-so-mean giant seemed to reach a catharsis after Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame respectively.

Ruffalo spoke with Variety about the potential for a She-Hulk appearance.

“There’s nothing completely at a place where it’s a done deal,” Ruffalo said in an interview for Variety’s recent cover story. “There’s some talk of having Banner/Hulk show up in [the Disney Plus series] ‘She–Hulk.’ If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table.”

He also expressed interest in starring in a stand-alone film, echoing the idea that we’ve never really delved deeply into the Avengers’ team muscle. Ruffalo’s character didn’t get much of a spotlight in the Avengers movies. The Infinity Saga focused primarily on Captain America and Iron Man leaving Phase Four to tackle others including Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the Hulk himself.

With a She-Hulk series coming to Disney Plus, Bruce Banner’s story is technically nowhere near over. Banner is responsible for turning his cousin Jennifer Walters into She-Hulk, a superhero who gained green skin and super strength thanks to a blood transfusion.

Phase 4 is putting the spotlight on a number of other Avengers who were secondary characters in the Infinity Saga. Black Widow’s solo film will be released in November of 2020, and Hawkeye is making the transition to Disney Plus.

“There’s an idea that I think could be really interesting, We’ve never really followed him into his life. He’s always kind of off on the side. He’s like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers.” Ruffalo told Variety. “It’d be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies.”

With the popularity of Thor: Ragnarok, as well as Hulk in Endgame, a solo Hulk project would be perfect for the Avenger. Ruffalo has barely gotten to scratch the surface of one of Marvel’s most complicated characters. While She-Hulk is poised to explore more of the Hulk’s mythos, Ruffalo should at least play a role. Who better to pass on the mantle of the strongest Avenger than Bruce Banner himself?
