Ms. Marvel fans are going to have to wait a little longer to see Kamala Khan hit the small screen. Originally slated to come out this year, the show will now release in Fall 2022 according to a statement made during Disney’s latest earnings call.
“Q4 will be the first time in Disney+ history that we plan to release original content throughout the quarter from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Nat Geo, all in one quarter,” said Christine McCarthy, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “This includes highly anticipated titles such as Ms. Marvel, Andor and Pinocchio.“
In the comics, Kamala Khan is a Muslim teenager from New Jersey with shapeshifting powers who idolizes Captain Marvel. In the show she’ll be played by actress Iman Vellani.
Marvel released its first sizzle reel for the show last year:
The character will also appear in the upcoming film The Marvels, set to release on February 17, 2023.
Also waiting release dates are the upcoming Marvel Disney+ shows Moon Knight and She-Hulk.
Marvel’s next show is Hawkeye, which premieres on November 24, 2021.
