The already-stacked Thunderbolts cast just added another heavy hitter to its roster. Actor Steven Yeun is joining the film in an undisclosed role according to Deadline.
Deadline also notes that the role is, “not only significant to this film but could also play a role going forward in future films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” Consider us intrigued.
Yeun is best known for his roles on The Walking Dead, Minari, and most recently the film Nope. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2021 for Minari.
He is set to star opposite Ali Wong in Netflix’s upcoming thriller drama series Beef.
Also set to return to the MCU for the film are David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S.Agent ,Olga Kurylenko as Taskmasterand Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.
The Bear star Ayo Edebiri is also in the cast in an undisclosed role.
Jake Schreier (Paper Towns, Lodge 49) is set to direct with Eric Pearson (Black Widow) writing the script. The film is set to be released on July 26, 2024.
