Star Wars Celebration 2023

Predictions For Star Wars Celebration 2023

Star Wars Celebration is right around the corner, and there is a lot of speculation on what will be revealed at the event. Some obvious guesses exist, but hopefully, Lucasfilm will surprise us with some big reveals. I will start with some obvious things and work toward the more hopeful ones.

Ahsoka Trailer/Release Date

This is a series I have been patiently waiting for, and it’s about time we get an official look at the series. A teaser was shown at the last Star Wars Celebration but wasn’t released officially. They were only a few weeks into filming, so waiting to show footage to the rest of the world makes sense. I believe Lucasfilm will give us a release date, and it could hit Disney+ sooner than we think. Possibly the summer? I still can’t believe we are getting an Ahsoka series. Dreams do come true. I hope that Ashley Eckstein, who voiced Ahsoka in animation could appear somewhere as a cameo. Rosario has performed Ahsoka so well in live-action, and can’t wait to see what Dave Filoni has made for us Ahsoka fans.

Cast Announcements/Show Announcements

Last year at Celebration, we got the announcement that Natasha Liu Bordizzo is playing Sabine Wren in Ahsoka. It’s a safe bet that we will get more cast announcements for the Ahsoka series and the other series on the way. Lucasfilm likes to get the crowd screaming; footage is an easy way to do that. The other sure way is to announce some new cast joining these upcoming projects. Maybe we get confirmation on who is playing Hera in Ahsoka, and maybe we also get Thrawn officially confirmed as well? When it comes to potential shows being announced, it’s possible, but we already have several series in development. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was announced officially at the last Celebration, but I don’t see another series being announced at this one. Let’s focus on what is already being worked on.

Tales Of The Jedi Season 2

Towards the end of 2022, Lucasfilm dropped six episodes of what we hope to be an ongoing series. Tales Of The Jedi were shorter episodes than regular tv series, but they all packed a punch when it came to story. Each was also visually stunning and brought me back to when I first watched The Clone Wars animated series. With the positive responses from fans, here is hoping we get an announcement of Season 2. It’s a way to give us more stories during the prequel era, which I know some people don’t like. I like that we can see different eras of this vast galaxy, and more episodes of this series would be a welcome treat to fans.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2

I don’t think this is a possibility. Still, the way Ewan McGregor, who plays the iconic Jedi, has been talking quite a bit about playing Obi-Wan again for a potential Season 2. To be honest, I’m not sure where another season of this show could go. We already saw the rematch of Vader Vs. Obi-Wan, and at some point, we will run into the timeline of A New Hope. That is still some years off, but I don’t want to cram stories into this time unless it makes sense. I enjoyed the first season of Obi-Wan overall, but I’m ok with letting Kenobi rest. Let’s change the focus to new characters. The Mandalorian proved we can follow new characters on their adventures and grow to love them.

A New Star Wars Film (THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS)

For the last few years, we have heard from the trades or Lucasfilm of films being in development. The problem is, we don’t have any concrete information on what the next film will be. I want Lucasfilm at Celebration this year to give us concrete information on the next Star Wars story on the big screen. Maybe the company feels the focus for Star Wars is Disney+, which is fine with me, honestly. Most of the shows have been good; they also have problems with their storytelling and pacing. I remember seeing The Force Awakens opening night, and I want that feeling of seeing Star Wars on the big screen again. Maybe the right story hasn’t come along yet for a film, but one can be found, right? We are ready, Lucasfilm, give us the next film!

Star Wars Celebration is right around the corner, and here is hoping we get some big news regarding the future of this franchise. I know some people have dropped off Star Wars due to some of the shows not hitting their full potential or the sequel trilogy not sticking to the landing it began in 2015. The original trilogy changed me in a way when I first watched them. I was blown away by this galaxy and the story George Lucas created. I’ll be a fan for life, and that won’t change.

Star Wars Celebration 2023 happens from April 7th-10th.
