Demigods and mortals rejoice! Disney+ officially renewed Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Season 2.
Season 1 of the show follows 12-year-old Percy Jackson discovering that he is a demi-god son of Poseidon and going on a quest to retrieve Zeus’ master bolt to stop a war between the gods. He is joined by best friends Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood.
In a statement on Instagram, creator Rick Riordan shared, “I can’t wait to bring the next season of #PercyJackson to @DisneyPlus! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”
The series stars Walker Scobell (“Percy Jackson”), Leah Sava Jeffries (“Annabeth Chase”), and Aryan Simhadri (“Grover Underwood.) Other cast members for Season 1 included Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hermes”), Toby Stephens (“Poseidon”), Virginia Kull (“Sally Jackson”), Jason Mantzoukas (“Dionysus” aka “Mr. D”), and Jay Duplass (“Hades”) among others.
The second season will adapt the second book of the series, The Sea of Monsters, which finds Percy and Annabeth on a quest to find the famed Golden Fleece to save Camp Half-Blood while also searching for a missing Grover.
An episode count and premiere date for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 has not been revealed yet.
