The last Superman film was released eleven years ago, but that streak will finally end in 2025, as DC Studios released the first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Superman. Rumblings and rumors began throughout the last few weeks that Gunn and DC Studios were prepping to drop a trailer for Superman in mid-December to go with Mufasa: The Lion King and Sonic 3, reported by Collider. Things became official on Monday, December 16th, when DC Studios released the motion poster and teaser, announcing the trailer today: Thursday, December 19th. Check out the trailer below:
On Monday, fan reactions flew through the roof with the release of the motion poster, including a tease of the score, alongside a small video teasing the trailer. Fans began to notice that the score, which was also posted on YouTube via John Murphy, resembled parts of John Williams’ infamous theme alongside Hans Zimmer’s rendition from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
