The MCU’s Mephisto Could Be Key To Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The anticipation for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is palpable. This can be seen as every new piece of info released has many speculating on the cast as well as fans reacting to the latest Spider-Man suit worn by Tom Holland.

While many cast members have been listed and what was hoped to be a “street level” film seems less and less likely, what if there is a connection to a previous MCU property? While there have been many villains announced could there be an even bigger one that hasn’t been revealed yet?

Mephisto had been theorized by fans to be a part of the MCU all the way back to the release of WandaVision. He finally made his debut in Ironheart and fans are curious about when he may show up next.

One of Mephisto’s most infamous appearances was in Spider-Man: One More Day. Elements of this comic have already been included in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter asking Doctor Strange for help in erasing his secret identity is a scene straight from the One More Day storyline.

Mephisto is responsible for Peter Parker’s identity being erased from humankind’s memory at the end of One More Day. The cost to Peter is his relationship with Mary Jane Watson.

While Doctor Strange was ultimately responsible for Peter’s identity being erased, could Mephisto be involved in helping Peter give Michele and Ned their memories back?

The most interesting part of the upcoming Spider-Man film is its title. The comic storyline that followed One More Day was titled Brand New Day. As is the case with every upcoming Marvel film it can be a fool’s errand to try and predict what may happen based on the comic books, but with Mephisto being introduced now and where Peter Parker would be emotionally. It could be possible for him to be included in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
