One year after the Superman marketing kicked off, Kal-El’s cousin wants a turn and she’s arriving in full speed. The internet lit up with trailer speculation last weekend when Supergirl socials went up with new graphics for the film. It also comes after Brazil’s CCXP event last week, in which DC Studios provided a Supergirl-stylized booth and activities, with James Gunn and Milly Alcock appearing remotely. On Sunday, December 7th, DC Studios held an event revealing the trailer to press. James Gunn, Craig Gillespie [the director], Milly Alcock, and Peter Safran were in attendance, confirming the trailer would release this week.
Now, the trailer has arrived with a gathering of passionate, engaging DC fans. The first teaser for the trailer, which was on Sunday, had similar engagement numbers across all social media platforms as the one for Superman last year.
The film is an adaptation from the 2022 comic book Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie [I, Tonya, Cruella, Dumb Money], and written by Ana Nogueira, who Gunn said is writing the next adaptation of Wonder Woman for DC Studios.
The next chapter of the ‘Super Saga’, Supergirl, flies into theaters June 26, 2026. The installment stars Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, Jason Momoa, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham.
