ADVANCE REVIEW: Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 | The Season Of TV Daredevil Fans Have Waited For

It could be argued that Daredevil: Born Again was one of the most anticipated projects in the history of the MCU. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were returning to their roles after a 7-year hiatus. Season 1 was released in March of 2025 to relatively positive reviews, but it was obvious that the first season was a hybrid of two different creative approaches.

The show was initially conceived to have few connections to the earlier series, and while it may seem obvious that would be a mistake. Thankfully, a correction was made during the production of the first season, which essentially made Born Again season 1 into Daredevil season 4.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again doesn’t make any of those mistakes. Season 2 immediately deals with the aftermath of the first, and the tension only continues to ramp up from there.  Mayor Fisk has a stranglehold on New York City, and it is up to The Man Without Fear to save the city he loves so dearly.

Since the debut of Daredevil in 2015, fans have been clamouring to see Matt Murdock truly embrace the symbol that Daredevil is for the citizens of New York and have the DD logo on the chest of his costume. Born Again season 2 finally gives fans what they have wanted for over a decade.

The costume may be a new color, but one thing you can always count on is incredible action. With an updated look and a Disney+ budget, the second season provides some of the best action sequences we have seen with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

As with the first season of Born Again, the events of the first and second episodes set the stage for the season’s focus. As Mayor, Wilson Fisk continues to use the Red Hook Port to funnel millions of dollars of illegal goods through New York City, and with The Punisher out of the picture, it is up to Daredevil to stop Kingpin.

Thankfully for Matt Murdock, he doesn’t have to face off against Mayor Fisk alone. The return of Karen Page significantly helps the second season be more connected to the earlier series. Deborah Ann Woll had very limited screen time in the first season, and her becoming a series regular makes season 2 feel more like Daredevil season 5 than Born Again season 2. Woll’s chemistry with Charlie Cox is undeniable, and the back and forth between Page and Murdock delivers some of the season’s best scenes.

Woll isn’t the only major character who returns this season. Krysten Ritter returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jessica Jones. Ritter’s Jessica Jones is a welcome addition to the season. Her no-nonsense attitude cuts the tension in any scene she is in. It has been many years since the Jessica Jones series concluded, and Born Again does a fantastic job of showing what she has been up to. Fingers crossed that she isn’t the only other Defender to get another chance to reinhabit a beloved role.

While the addition of Woll and Ritter is important to the overall dynamic of the main cast, Daredevil: Born Again lives and dies with Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. Before the release of season 2, it would be easy to argue that Cox and D’Onofrio are two of the greatest characters in the history of the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 cements Cox and D’Onofrio as a Mount Rushmore hero and villain, respectively, for the MCU. The battle between Fisk and Murdock is unlike anything we have seen before, and there are scenes in the second season that fans will be watching over and over again.

Most of the criticism of the first season of Born Again was because of fan expectations, and the earlier series being incredibly beloved. Daredevil: Born Again season 2 delivers in every way and is the season of television that fans of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen have been waiting for.

New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 drop on Tuesdays on Disney+.
