Last week, the first official trailer for the upcoming DCU series Lanterns was released. The trailer was initially intended to be released on March 5, but after a premature upload on YouTube, the trailer was published to the public on March 4th.
The trailer focused on the relationship between two Green Lanterns: Hal Jordan and his rookie in training, John Stewart. Much of the conversation focused on the lack of green in the trailer. It was clear that the showrunners had a clear vision for their upcoming series. Hal Jordan is a wildcard veteran who has lived a very inventive life, and soon-to-be Green Lantern, John Stewart, is a by-the-book kind of student.
The series is scheduled to be released on HBO in August of this year. While fans may be eagerly waiting for the debut of the series, it was announced today that John Stewart will pop up next after the series has concluded. It has been reported that Aaron Pierre will have a sizable role in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
This does not come as a huge surprise, as Guy Gardner was included in the ensemble in Superman last year. One thing millennials may be on the lookout for is whether John Stewart interacts with already confirmed cast member Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl.
John Stewart and Shayera Hol began as just League members, but their friendship turned to romance and, eventually, tragedy at the conclusion of the Justice League Animated series. Merced might not be playing the Shayera version of Hawkgirl, but many fans of both characters will want them together regardless.
The Aaron Pierre announcement is exciting, given that it will now have 3 members of the inevitable Justice League in the film. Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to hit the silver screen on July 9th, 2027. Which Justice League Member would you like to see join the DCU next?
