Thor Ragnarok to Enlist The Hulk

Update:  This story was posted on October 12th and was now confirmed today, October 15th.  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to see how Loki and Hulk get along in this movie!

We are nearly two years away from the theatrical release of the third installment in the Thor movies – Thor Ragnarok.  Recently it was rumored that the movie will be directed by Taika Waititi (who is currently directing the comedy Hunt for the Wilderpeople).  Hot on the heels of that rumor is an even more exciting rumor that Mark Ruffalo will join Chris Hemsworth in the battle against Ragnarok, meaning The Hulk will join Thor (and Loki?) in what will likely be the best Thor movie to date.

JoBlo reported the story this morning, citing “inside sources” from NYCC.  The story also goes on to say that it’s much more than just a cameo appearance and that Banner/Hulk will have “significant screen time” in the movie.  Great news for Hulk fans!

Possibly even greater news for Hulk fans is that the movie is rumored to involve a third realm in addition to Asgard and Midgard (Earth).  Could this possibly mean a tie-in to a future Planet HulkThor Ragnarok Kork Dark Worldmovie?  Marvel did just announce three new titles for 2020 last week at NYCC when they announced the Ant-Man sequel.  Could the Green Goliath finally get his own movie?  I certainly hope so.  We have actually already seen one character from the Planet Hulk universe – Korg appeared briefly in Thor:  The Dark World.

Some additional Ruffalo news from NYCC – Mark Ruffalo actually attended NYCC last week.  If you saw this cosplayer walking around, it was him!  No doubt many people saw him wandering the exhibit hall floor and had no idea.Mark Ruffalo NYCC

Thor Ragnarok will be the next time we see Hulk or Thor, as neither of them will likely appear in Captain America:  Civil War, Dr. Strange or Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It’s also not 100% confirmed just yet that Tom Hiddleston will be back as Loki, but we can’t possibly imagine one without the other.  Especially the way that Thor: The Dark World ended.

Where is Odin, anyway?

Thor Ragnarok is in theaters November 7, 2017.
