TOP MARVEL COMIC & MOVIE MOMENTS OF 2015

THOR, SPIDER-GWEN, & MS. MARVEL

“There were so many great comics this year, but what I am thankful for is how many female-lead comics Marvel released! Some of my favorites were THOR, SPIDER-GWEN, and MS. MARVEL.”
– Kathryn Calamia @ComicUno

SECRET WARS & ALL-NEW ALL-DIFFERENT

“In the comics Jonathan Hickman wrapped up one of the greatest runs ever on a superhero comic with AVENGERS/NEW AVENGERS/SECRET WARS. We saw the destruction of the two universes we’ve grown to love over the years, and in their place we got something All New, and All Different. This meant that we said goodbye to the Ultimate Universe. For almost fifteen years the Ultimate Universe had been home to some of the best comics around, and it had an enormous impact on the type of stories Marvel Studios ended up telling. The year ended with the relaunch of the entire Marvel Universe under the ALL-NEW ALL-DIFFERENT banner. Despite the initial concerns of many, the relaunch could not have gone any better. There are arguably more quality Marvel books being published today than at any point in the company’s history.” – John Ernenputsch @JPooch21

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. celebrated its 50th anniversary this year with six different special release comics: S.H.I.E.L.D., NICK FURY, QUAKE, THE CAVALRY, AGENT CARTER, and MOCKINGBIRD. MOCKINGBIRD was by far the funniest of the books, and did so well that Agent Bobbi Morse is getting her own comic in 2016.”

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

“My favorite Marvel moment of 2015, hands down, was Vision lifting Mjolnir in AVENGERS:
AGE OF ULTRON. It was so completely unexpected and the reaction from the opening night crowd was incredible.”
– Shawn Richter @Cofphoto

AGE OF ULTRON completely blew me away. From the humorous banter between Tony and Cap, to Thor doing shots with Stan Lee, to Clint Barton being a father — everything was perfect. James Spader was a fantastic villain, Elizabeth Olsen completely won me over as Scarlet Witch, and I love that Natasha and Bruce have gotten close. It was a huge set up for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, which was very exciting. Oh, and Vision stole the show!”

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR TRAILER

“The CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR trailer tore me apart in all the right ways. That film is going to be brilliant.”
– Sam Bell @HailHydra94

“My 2015 has been spent hyping myself up for CIVIL WAR in 2016, where I’m sure it will reach epic proportions. I haven’t been this excited about a movie probably ever.”
– Brittany Rivera @Kindamoviesnob

ANT-MAN

I thought the comedy in ANT-MAN was amazing.”
– Clement J Bryant @ClementBryant

“ANT-MAN was a blast and did a great job of introducing us to major characters going forward. Overall, I’ve really just loved how Marvel continued to deliver solid stories with great characters to continue filling out the Avengers and hero roster.”
– Blaise Hopkins @BlaiseHopkins

CLOSING THOUGHTS

“2015 wasn’t just about the comics. Marvel continued its dominance of both TV and film. The Avengers assembled to take on Ultron in May, and the world was introduced to Scott Lang in August. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON brought classic characters such as The Vision and Scarlet Witch to the screen. ANT-MAN proved to the doubters that Marvel Studios could succeed with a movie on a smaller scale. We also got our first glimpse at Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, as we all collectively lost our minds over the CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR trailer.”
