Marvel Producer Victoria Alonso Honored for Harold Lloyd Award

Marvel Producer Victoria Alonso to be Honored

Marvel Studio’s executive producer and vice president of physical production, Victoria Alonso, is slated to receive the Harold Lloyd Award, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This award is given out by the Advanced Imaging Society, and is given to filmmakers who in the judgement of the society, “Have created a body of work and specific achievements in 3D that advance the motion picture art form.” She will be the first woman in the society’s history  to receive the honor.

Harold Lloyd was a silent film star who worked on numerous films from 1914 to 1947, famous for his use of technological stunts and incredible action sequences, pushing the envelope to the point of severe injury.  He held a great interest in photography, microscopy, and is responsible for doing some of the first studies with technicolor.  Harold pushed the boundaries of both acting and science.

Victoria Alonso is an innovator who has followed in his footsteps, “Victoria Alonso has inspired movie fans and her colleagues with a dedication to strong storytelling and brilliant technical achievement.” Said Buzz Hays, founder of the True Image company.  Her credits for Marvel include Ant-man, Avengers: age of ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man 3, and Thor: The Dark World.  She is currently at work on Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Captain America: Civil War.

Prior to Marvel her credits include Shrek, Big Fish, and Kingdom of Heaven. She joins noted award winners James Cameron, Ang Lee, Jeffery Katzenberg, and Martin Scorsese.  The award will be presented on January 27th at the WB studios.

“Harold Lloyd helped create and advocated for the use of technical innoventions to thrill movie audiences in more then 200 films here in Hollywood.” said Suzanne Lloyd, Chairman of Harold Lloyd entertainment, “As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Harold stepping in front of the camera I know he would be thrilled that this award bearing his name would be presented to an artist of Victoria Alonso’s passion and achievement.”
