FX’s ‘Legion’ Pilot has cast Katie Aselton who will star opposite Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, and Jean Smart. Ms. Aselton’s previous credits include a spot on Hulu’s series Casual along with a reoccurring role on HBO’s upcoming Togetherness. Her upcoming projects include The Sea of Trees for director Gus Van Sant where she’ll star opposite Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts. She’ll also be starring opposite Owen Wilson, Ed Helms and J.K. Simmons in Warner Brothers Bastards.
Legion introduces the story of David Haller (played by Dan Stevens) based on the Marvel Comics character Legion. Legion, the son of professor Xavier, struggles with his mutant abilities, believing them to be connected to a mental disorder. Haunted, he meets a woman who confronts him with the possibility that the voices he hears might just be more then he thought and he might be heir to something extraordinary.
In the comics, Legion’s ability consists of being able to absorb a person’s psyche and use their abilities while they’re dormant within him. These abilities include telekenesis, telepathy, and reality warping. While there’s no word on how much of David’s history will be brought to FX’s small screen the prospects are looking good for a unique thought provoking series about power and ability within the human mind.
Legion is an upcoming pilot from Fargo creator Noah Hawley, Marvel TV, and FX productions. There is no current word on a release date. There is also no current word on who the other actors will be playing besides Stevens himself.
