We’ve been waiting with bated breath for any information at all on Captain Marvel since Kevin Feige announced it at The House of Ideas’ event at El Capitan back in October of 2014, and it seems we may be getting close to some big reveals at last.
During the press day for Captain America: Civil War, which brought news from all over the MCU, Fandango spoke with Marvel’s guiding hand Kevin Feige and he revealed we’re a mere month or two away from learning who will helm the film. Not only that, but by the end of summer we should know who will be taking on the role of Carol Danvers. Perhaps San Diego Comic Con will have a big announcement?
It’s safe to say most everyone has been extending their grabby hands in waiting on this information over the last eighteen months. Carol had been rumored to make an appearance leading into titles such as Guardians of the Galaxy, to which we know wasn’t her first screen time. Also, since it’s announcement Captain Marvel is unfortunately one of the titles that fell victim to slate changes after the deal with Sony brought Spider-Man back home.
Multiple characters have held the mantle of Captain Marvel, so it’s been up in the air whether this will be an origin story or not. Feige was mum on story details, as he typically is, only hinting that it involves Carol’s journey, which feels as if it hints slightly towards the former.
From Marvel and Disney, Captain Marvel comes to theaters March 8, 2019.
