Looks like another Westerosi is moving to Hell’s Kitchen! Marvel announced today that Game of Thrones actress Jessica Henwick is joining the cast of Netflix and Marvel’s Iron Fist. Henwick will play Colleen Wing, “a martial arts expert running her own dojo…She will serve as an invaluable ally to Danny Rand as he returns to his life in New York.”
She joins fellow Thrones alum Finn Jones who is starring as Daniel Rand/Iron Fist. He previously played Ser Loras Tyrell on the HBO show.
Executive producer and showrunner Scott Buck expressed his enthusiasm about Henwick joining the cast.
“I’m very excited to have Jessica as our Colleen Wing. She’s shown us that she can bring both a sense of quiet strength as well as an engaging vulnerability to the character.”
For those who don’t know Henwick as Sand Snake Nymeria, her face may be familiar due to her appearance in another geek franchise last year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While only appearing in the film for a short period of time, her X-Wing pilot Jessika “Testor” Pava quickly became a fan favorite for being the first female pilot and visible Asian woman in the franchise.
We can’t wait to see her bring her fighting skills to Netflix and it seems Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb thinks the same.
“As anyone who’s seen her in ‘Game of Thrones’ can attest, she can throw down with the best of them, making her the perfect Colleen Wing.”
There is no release date set for the Iron Fist series yet. The next Netflix Marvel show will be Luke Cage, which will premiere on September 30th, 2016.
In “Marvel’s Iron Fist,” Daniel Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
“Marvel’s Iron Fist” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
