The third part of TMR’s coverage of the press room for Marvel’s Luke Cage at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 featured interviews with Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and Frank Whaley (Detective Rafael Scarfe).
The two characters are not unlike their comic counterparts. For one, Misty Knight needs no introduction. Originally a police officer with the NYPD in the comics, Misty gets injured in the process of preventing a bomb attack and winds up with a bionic arm capable of super strength, magnetism and blasts courtesy of Iron Man himself, Tony Stark. Scarfe is Misty’s partner on the force, who was there when the bomb attack situation went down and brought her to safety.
Marvel describes Misty as “Harlem police detective who is determined to learn the truth about Luke Cage” while Scarfe is “a hard-nosed NYPD detective who partners with Misty Knight in their Luke Cage investigation.” Watch as Missick & Whaley talk in depth about their characters, on / off screen dynamics and working on location in New York. This interview made for quite the humor and the actors are very engaging. Check it out:
