Stan Lee Day Los Angeles

Stan Lee Day Declared in Los Angeles

Marvel icon and creator Stan Lee was honored at a ceremony at City Hall in Los Angeles today.  City council members declared that October 28th would now officially be Stan Lee Day in the City of Angels.

It’s no coincidence that this year October 28th also happens to be the first day of Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con – one of the largest comic conventions in southern California, drawing around 75,000 attendees annually.  The convention takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center and runs from Friday October 28th through Sunday the 30th.

Lee was also given a huge framed print, officially documenting the event.   He talked about receiving such an honor.

“I am certainly proud as can be to be here today and to have been treated as beautifully as I have been, I can’t thank you nearly enough…Bless you all, you’ve made me incredibly happy.”

Stan the Man briefly talked about why he chose Los Angeles for the location for his convention:

“Los Angeles is the home of entertainment. This is where it all starts, this is the movie capital of the world, the music capital of the world, everything, it’s all here in L.A.”

You can watch the whole event here, thanks to ABC 7 Los Angeles.

This morning the convention also announced that it would no longer be known as Comikaze but instead Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con.
