Henry Cavill, Aziz Ansari, Halle Berry, Eli Roth, and Ariana Greenblatt were all in attendance to talk about their projects.
Things kicked off at CinemaCon 2024 on April 10 with a Henry Cavill-filled morning during the Lionsgate presentation. Cavill appeared to discuss The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, In The Grey, and his “sword work” training for the upcoming Highlander.
After numerous jokes about Cavill’s facial hair, he briefly talked about each of his projects, gushing about Jake Gyllenhaal, his co-lead in In The Grey, calling him a “wonderful man.”
The sneak peek train kept rolling with clips and trailers from The Strangers: Chapter 1, The Crow, Never Let Go (executed produced by and starring Halle Berry), The Killer’s Game, Flight Risk, Shadow Force, and Borderlands (with a video message from Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett and others).
Eli Roth and Ariana Greenblatt came out to chat about the film, which Ariana filmed when she was 13, before Barbie. Roth mentioned having fun recommending films like My Dinner With Andre “just to f-ck with her.” The entire cast developed a wonderful camaraderie on set, according to Roth and Greenblatt.
There was also footage from the upcoming Michael and Aziz Ansari’s Good Fortune, featuring a stacked comedic cast. Ansari came out on stage and it became a five-minute stand-up comedy special. The Good Fortune clip we saw did a great job at garnering nostalgia for the early 2000s era of comedy movies.
If it’s one thing about Lionsgate, it’s clear they love Keanu Reeves and Henry Cavill. Ansari remarked on that, joking that he gets called “Little Brown Cavill.”
