Deadpool 2 Director Tim Miller Leaves Film

Deadline.com reported today that Deadpool 2 director, Tim Miller, has left the project as of Friday evening. Creative differences between Miller and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was sited as the reason for Miller leaving the project. Miller had not signed a deal yet, but he was developing the script and planning to return behind the camera. In the end Miller leaving was an amicable split.

Miller was hired in 2011 to direct Deadpool,  his first directing job. Reynolds first played Deadpool in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Then came back as the version he wanted, and in a producer’s role for 2016’s R-rated Deadpool. Miller will be continuing to direct for Fox with the upcoming film Influx.

“Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax (Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”

Deadpool 2 is expected to be released in 2018 – the first film is out on Blu-Ray and DVD.
