Though many hoped, Johnny Blaze is not expected to appear again on Agents Of SHIELD. The executive producers of Agents Of SHIELD Jeff Bell and Jed Whedon said don’t expect to see more of Johnny Blaze. The news was revealed to IGN during a set visit of Agents Of SHIELD.
IGN:
“There is a tradition within the comics that there’s been many Ghost Riders and our take on that was they’re not simultaneously a tribe of Ghost Riders but that it’s passed. The Spirit of Vengeance is passed from person to person. In that respect, at least our intention was that the Spirit of Vengeance was passed from one person to another,” said Bell. “And who passed that on, there are suggestions within the storytelling … That’s as far as we’re going to take that part.”
Ghost Rider was introduced on the current season of Agents Of SHIELD in the first half of the season. However, it was Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) bearing the mantle of Ghost Rider on the show. Though, Johnny Blaze was essentially implied in being the one to pass on the Spirit Of Vengeance (as suggested in the quote above) to Robbie in the episode, ” The Good Samaritan”. Sadly, we still shouldn’t expect to see Johnny Blaze on Agents Of SHIELD…at least any time soon.
Jed Whedon did have this to say:
“If we find a story where that’s not true, we are going to go back on that in an instant.”
For now though, we shouldn’t get our hopes that Johnny Blaze will make an appearance again. But do not give up hope on Robbie Reyes. Jeff Bell has said before that it’s been left open for Robbie to return. Until Robbie returns, we most likely won’t see any form of Ghost Rider on Agents Of SHIELD.
As always, we will continue to update you on Agents Of Shield and all things Marvel.
