Marvel’s publishing world is getting bigger.
Margaret Stohl’s Black Widow: Forever Red is a favorite of fans around the world. Stohl’s work was groundbreaking, and her work with the Black Widow series led to her taking the reins at Captain Marvel, cementing her as one of the Women of Marvel. The Black Widow series has garnered a sequel, Red Vengeance – and it’s not the only YA novel that Marvel has produced outside the world of comic books. Shannon and Dean Hale have a Captain Marvel novel in the works.
They have a brand new book coming sooner then that however, and it’s exciting.
Shannon and Dean Hale are getting a little nutty and tackling Doreen Green in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Squirrel Meets World. Available February 7th 2017, the book seems like a fun take on a very fun fan favorite character. Check out the synopsis below:
WHO RUNS THE WORLD? SQUIRRELS! Fourteen-year-old Doreen Green moved from sunny California to the suburbs of New Jersey. She must start at a new school, make new friends, and continue to hide her tail. Yep, Doreen has the powers of . . . a squirrel! After failing at several attempts to find her new BFF, Doreen feels lonely and trapped, liked a caged animal. Then one day Doreen uses her extraordinary powers to stop a group of troublemakers from causing mischief in the neighborhood, and her whole life changes. Everyone at school is talking about it! Doreen contemplates becoming a full-fledged Super Hero. And thus, Squirrel Girl is born! She saves cats from trees, keeps the sidewalks clean, and dissuades vandalism. All is well until a real-life Super Villain steps out of the shadows and declares Squirrel Girl his archenemy. Can Doreen balance being a teenager and a Super Hero? Or will she go . . . NUTS?
Mr. and Mrs Hale are known for the Princess Black series Austenland series and Rapunzel’s Revenge. The pair have been tapped to write the Captain Marvel novel according to The Mary Sue. While there’s no release date set for Captain Marvel’s arrival into the MCU, Doreen Green arrives tomorrow in book retailers nationwide.
