A new Spider-Man spinoff finds a writer in Thor: Ragnarok script writer, Chris Yost. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the spinoff will focus on Black Cat and Silver Sable. Amy Pascal and Matt Tolmach are set to produce the film; they were originally going to produce the female spinoff during The Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
Silver Sable was created in 1985 by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz; Silver Sable is a mercenary who runs a company that hunts war criminals. Black Cat, also know as Felicia Hardy, is femme fatale and a cat burglar. Felicia has also had a romance with Peter Parker in the comics. This won’t be Felicia’s first cinematic appearance; she was played by Felicity Jones in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Though Black Cat is a more known character in the Spider-Man comics universe, it sounds like this may be an interesting set of characters to follow for a spin-off. As of now, it doesn’t sound like this spin-off is directly connected to Spider-Man: Homecoming, but will exist in the same universe.
Sony is looking for a director and aim for a fall date for filming.
