With The Defenders heading to Netflix August 8th, 2017 – phase one of the MarvelFlix Cinematic Universe is coming to a conclusion. All eyes are turned towards the future from Iron Fist to Daredevil. First up however, fans are wondering just what Jessica Jones season 2 will entail.
Marvel.com dropped news this morning that Oscar Nominee Janet McTeer will join the second season of the Peabody award winning series. The actress, best known for Albert Nobbs, Me Before You, and Tumbleweeds, ““We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast,” said executive producer Jeph Leob.
“Our second season of ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.”
According to series creator Melissa Rosenberg, Marvel “couldn’t be more excited” to work with McTeer on the project. She told EW.com that “We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her.”
Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we’re trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, gives her characters extraordinary dimension and depth.
Cindy Holland, Netflix VP of content added, ““Janet McTeer is the consummate actor, slipping seamlessly into each character she brings to life. “We’re thrilled to have her join the outstanding cast, led by the fearless Krysten Ritter.” All speculation points to McTeer playing a character who will have a “major impact” on Jessica Jones’s life. Who could this be? Could she be playing a comic character or an original creation from series creator Melissa Rosenberg?
