In ultra-sad news, Beau Bridges, on Twitter, informed the world that Powers Booth, known and loved by Marvel fans for his role as Gideon Malick on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has passed away due to natural causes. Boothe’s vitae included more than just Marvel villains, he was a veritable who’s who of Hollywood, having won an Emmy for his portrayal of infamous cult leader Jim Jones.

Boothe had recently appeared in the Avengers and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. He was also in the original Sin City and killed the role of William “Curley Bill” Brocious in Tombstone. DC fans will recognize him as the voice of Gorilla Grodd in Justice League and the sequel, Justice League Unlimited.
Boothe was 68 years of age and died of natural causes, per The Hollywood Reporter. He is survived by his wife, Pam, and their two daughters, Parisse and Preston. He died one month to the day short of his 69th birthday.
