SDCC 2017 Inhumans Panel Reveals New Footage!

Marvel’s Inhumans cast take on San Diego Comic-Con for the first time! Head of Marvel television Jeph Loeb, director Roel Reiné, executive producer Scott Buck, Sonya Balmores (Auran), Isabelle Cornish (Crystal), Eme Ikwuakor (Gorgon), Ken Leung (Karnak), Mike Moh (Triton), Anson Mount (Black Bolt), Iwan Rheon (Maximus the Mad), Serinda Swan (Queen Medusa) and Ellen Woglom (Louise, human) were all in attendance to let us in on the mysterious world of the Inhumans Royal Family. Each of them gets a mini Lockjaw plush! Here’s hoping it’ll be available to purchase at some point!

The first chapter of the Inhumans hits IMAX theaters on September 1st. Just announced at SDCC that September 29th will not only be the premiere of one episode but the first two, with additional footage not on the IMAX version. Scott Buck says that it is “not a superhero show, it’s a show about humans (or Inhumans) with powers.” Those expecting just a typical superhero show are going to be in for something different. To enjoy the show the most it’ll be best to view it not as a superhero show but a show about humans who are dealing with these powers, so expect mistakes.

The cast talks of filming and the challenges they’ve faced in their roles for a show such as the Inhumans.

New footage was shown! The opening scene of Marvel’s Inhumans starts with green-skinned Triton trying to save a young Inhuman but trying to escape from the military. More new footage shows Gorgon and Karnak in a fantastic action sequence – taking on Maximus. Don’t fret! Footage also shows Medusa’s hair in action. Loeb says there is over 600 special effects in the first 2 episodes alone! Will be exciting to see these effects brought to the small screen.

Some of the best scenes show Medusa communicating with Black Bolt who will be “speaking” a sign language that only Medusa knows and understands. Anson and Serinda worked together to develop the original sign language.

Ellen Woglom will be playing an original character, Louise, who is from Earth but has some important knowledge! Also, yes Agents of Shields and the Inhumans will be connected and will play a big part in each other’s stories. A crossover episode between the two shows will eventually happen! Sean Callery, of Jessica Jones fame, will be doing the score for Inhumans!

Iwan Rhoen was worried about playing Maximus, thinking he was yet another “bad guy” that he will be playing, but says he is not all bad. Iwan describes Maximus as “revolutionary, ruthless, a family man, and a Shakespearean-type of character”. It will be exciting to see where the show takes Maximus.

Take a look at the new trailer from SDCC! Premiering exclusively in IMAX September 1st and catch the two-hour premiere on ABC on September 29th!
