The Punisher Pulled From New York Comic Con

The Punisher  pulled from New York Comic Con following the tragedy. After the mass shooting in Las Vegas Marvel and Netflix decided to pull the show from the New York Comic Con lineup. The panel for The Punisher was supposed to be on October 7th.  News come via deadline.

Here’s what Netflix and Marvel said on in a joint statement:

“We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas. After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy.”

With The Punisher following the titled character, Frank Castle, is a ex-military turned vigilante who uses guns to take the law into his own hands. Given the overall premise of the character and show, it would make sense for Netflix and Marvel to pull the show from New York Comic Con.

There is still no official release date for the upcoming series from Netflix and Marvel. However, expect it to be out before 2017 is over.

The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, and Deborah Ann Woll. The showrunner is Steve Lightfoot and is produced by Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory in association with Marvel Television and Netflix.
