The X-Men Universe is going through some release date changes! The Hollywood Reporter revealed some good and bad news for upcoming X-Men films.
The good news is that the Deadpool sequel, starring Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin, is hitting theaters earlier! Instead of June 1, we’ll see the Merc With a Mouth back in the theaters on May 18!
Bad news: the X-Men spin-off horror film New Mutants is not coming out this year after all. Instead of April 13, we’re getting the movie on February 22, 2019. Last, but not least, the Gambit film, starring Channing Tatum, is now set to arrive on June 7, 2019, instead of February 14.
This makes a lot of sense as it was revealed earlier today that the project has yet again lost its director. It was revealed that Gore Verbinski is departing the picture due to scheduling conflicts. Now, for the question many may be asking: why the need for rescheduling?
According to THR, the studio wanted to avoid some of the upcoming X-films competing with each other, internationally. For example, in certain countries, Deadpool 2, as well as New Mutants, would be showing in theaters at the same time.
