Since EP/writer Geoff Johns revealed that Doom Patrol will be coming to Titans, fans have been wondering what members will show up on the Teen Titans streaming series. Well, we finally know one of them who is coming in the first season.
Deadline reports that Bruno Bichir (Absentia, Narcos) has been tapped as DC Comics’ The Chief, leader of the Doom Patrol. The Chief, a.k.a. Dr. Niles Caulder will recur in the first season of the highly anticipated series that will debut later this year. Warner Bros. TV and DC describe the Titans version of The Chief as follows:
“Dr. Niles (The Chief) Caulder, a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.”
A previous casting report has suggested that Rita Ferr a.k.a. Elasti-Girl, another Doom Patrol member, was being cast as a recurring character. With The Chief now set, we should be hearing more members being cast. While Deadline didn’t reveal what Bichir’s first episode on Titans would be, it is safe to speculate episode five “The Doom Patrol” being his debut episode.
“From executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, TITANS is an all-new live-action drama series that follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe.
