Gemma Chan joins the cast of Captain Marvel as Doctor Minerva. Doctor Minerva , also known as Minn-erva, is a Kree spy and geneticist. Gemma Chan currently stars in Humans. The news comes via Deadline.
Not much is known about the plot of Captain Marvel aside from it supposedly taking place in the 1990s and that the Skrulls (an alien race) are the villains. Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers is a Marvel comics heroine who has cosmic powers and served in the Air Force as a Colonel.
Gemma has several projects coming out in the next year so, one of them being Crazy Rich Asians starring Constance Wu. Chan’s casting in Captain Marvel and into the Marvel Cinematic Universe will add to the representation of Asian women. More diversity and inclusion, especially for women always puts a smile on my face!
The rest of the cast for Captain Marvel is Brie Larson, DeWanda Wise, Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ben Mendelsohn. The directors are Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden; and the most recent script is written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
