Jessica Jones 2.12: “AKA Pray for My Patsy”

Janet McTeer Jessica Jones season 2

Jessica Jones season 2 is a story about mothers and daughters. Jessica has a blind spot when it comes to her mother. She is so desperate for some kind of connection that she is willing to go back on everything she stands for when it comes to Alisa. Despite the fact that Alisa has killed multiple people- some right in front of her-she doesn’t want to see her mother punished. They are at a stalemate. And Alisa knows this. She has all the power in the relationship, literally and figuratively.

Jessica has always been jealous of Trish because her mother was alive. But Trish blames Dorothy for a lot of her problems. Trish’s mother is controlling and manipulative. She uses Trish’s fame for her own personal gain. But as we saw in episode 7, it was also Dorothy who helped Trish go to rehab and get clean.

Trish wants Jessica to kill Alisa because she knows there’s no other solution. One police office has already been killed in the attempt to take her down and it’s only going to get worse. But Jessica can’t bring herself to take the shot when the moment comes. Instead, Alisa kidnaps Jessica and the two set off on a little road trip. It’s anyone’s guess where this road might take them.

Stray Observations

  • You know Jeri is lying, but that doesn’t make her revenge any less chilling
  • Trish waking up in the hospital and immediately calling Jess an “asshole” is SUCH a sister thing to do
  • It always great to see Turk show up in these shows: “Hey, if you drive a porsche you can afford another porsche.”
