Fans will get to see even more of Captain Marvel’s origin story than originally expected. Actress Mckenna Grace will play a young Carol Danvers in the film according to a report from That Hashtag Show.
While the actress was already confirmed for the film, her role was previously undisclosed. Fans had speculated she would play Captain Marvel superfan Kit Renner before her role was revealed.
The 11 year-old is best known for her leading role in the film Gifted and for portraying a young Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.
In the same report, it was rumored that actress Ana Ayora (Banshee) is joining the film in an undisclosed role. While it’s possible Ayora could play a more well-known Marvel character, it seems most likely her character will tie into Danvers’ origin story as an Air Force pilot.
Captain Marvel is currently filming in Los Angeles and is set to wrap production in early July.
Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, opens in theaters March 8, 2019. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Jude Law as Walter Lawson a.k.a. Captain Mar-Vell, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, with Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, and Rune Temte.
