Ghost, the villain of the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp, proves to be a frightening foe in a new TV spot released by Marvel. In the clip we see the heroes struggle to match her powers.
As the clip begins we hear Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) say, “We’ve unleashed something powerful, we have to stop her.” Not a promising start for Hope and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd).
Later footage shows Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) using her phasing powers to escape from a building and to knock out Scott Lang. Ghost clearly has the upper hand on the duo.
However, the real winner in this teaser is Evangeline Lilly for her amazing facial reactions as the exasperated Hope listens to Scott make a list to defeat Ghost. Of course, he might miss a few steps (“That seems like it should be a part of 2. 2A.”).
Although Ghost first appeared in Marvel comics in the 80s as a villain who gets his powers from wearing a super suit, little is known about the movie version of the character. An earlier trailer revealed that Ghost stole tech from Hank Pym and has a desire to take over the world.
While we didn’t see many characters featured in this clip, it was previously revealed that Michelle Pfeiffer will play Janet van Dyne, who was stuck in the Quantum Realm. Perhaps she’s the key to stopping Ghost? As a reminder, Ant-Man and the Wasp takes place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, so no hopes of the villain disappearing for good.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Hannah John-Kamen, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas.
Ant-Man and the Wasp opens in theatres July 6.
