With Captain Marvel‘s release date approaching almost as fast as she herself can fly, and with its success more than guaranteed, it’s natural for Marvel Studios to already be anticipating the sequel. At the very least, star Brie Larson certainly is – and she hopes Kamala Khan will join her in it.
“My dream would be that Ms. Marvel would come into play,” Larson told an excited group of fans at one of the events during the Asian Press Tour for Captain Marvel. “That would be nice.” The buzzworthy statement came in response to a question about who she’d like to see in a sequel, so it wasn’t even prompted.
You can watch Larson answer the question for yourself, thanks to Brazilian fansite @CaptMarvelBR, who posted the exchange on Twitter:
Ms. Marvel, whose civilian name is Kamala Khan, was introduced as Carol Danvers’ protege back in 2013, in Captain Marvel #14, before getting her own series in October of 2014. Ever since, she’s been a popular character in her own right but still crosses paths with her mentor from time to time.
Last May, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also suggested that conversation about Kamala Khan were underway following Captain Marvel‘s seminal film. “Captain Marvel‘s shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works,” Feige had explained. “We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel.”
