Thanks to TVLine, fans will finally get a sneak peek of what new characters to expect on Season 6 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. With Coulson (but not Clark Gregg) gone, it’s only right that a few new faces step in – even if no one can ever fill the void he’s left behind. And based on the latest trailers, it appears they’re not of this Earth (or of this timeline). Let’s see who some of these otherworldly visitors are, shall we?
Swiping through the official Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. instagram provides the first look at Karolina Wydra, Christopher James Baker, and Barry Shabaka Henley suited up and ready to stir the pot after last season’s time jump and post-Coulson renovation of the agency. Mack (Henry Simmons) is in charge, but will he and his team be able to defeat the evil coming their way? And then there’s Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Daisy (Chloe Bennet), and the search for Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) to consider. It will take them to space all over again, but can they survive a second time?
The new cast members have had their roles revealed to some extent already. Wydra plays Izel, a mercenary from another galaxy who teams up with our S.H.I.E.L.D. agents for survival. Meanwhile, Baker takes on the role of Malachi, an assassin from another planet. And finally, Shabaka Henley is Dr. Marcus Benson, a Natural Sciences professor recruited by Mack and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to help them with the current mission.
Audiences have already seen Wydra on Quantico, where she played Sasha Barinov. Baker was in the second season of True Detective and will be in the upcoming Stargirl, while Shabaka Henley played Terry Drake in Bosch. No doubt they will each bring something great to the table this next season.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on Friday, May 10th at 8/7c.
