Barry Keoghan is not shy of taking on brutal acting roles from this year’s break out miniseries Chernobyl, to the WW2 action-drama Dunkirk. He’s taking his career in a different direction now and according to Collider, he is in talks for one of Marvel’s Phase 4 films, The Eternals.
While very little is known about the movie or plot currently, Kevin Feige was quoted saying, “Jack Kirby did an immense, amazing epic with Eternals that spans tens of thousands of years, and that’s also something we haven’t really done, which is why that among many other things post-Endgame, we find appealing.”
The currently announced cast is full of critically acclaimed actors; Angelina Jolie (Thena), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Salma Hayek (Ajak) and Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos). The rest of the cast also includes Lauren Ridloff (Makkari), Lia McHugh (Sprite) and Don Lee (Gilgamesh). With this amount of acting power, one can wonder if Eternals will be going more into the comics main conflict of what humanity is, and what it means to be a human.
“It’s about this group of incredible immortals, but through their journey, we really get to explore what it means to be human and humanity on our time on this planet,” director Chloé Zhao said when the project was announced at San Diego Comic-Con.
How will young Barry Keoghan stand with this amazing group of veteran actors? If his last few years have shown anything we should be in for a Marvel film, unlike anything we’ve seen before.
