It looks like Hulu plans to move forward with the upcoming Helstrom television show, with Marvel announcing the main cast today.
Tom Austen (Grantchester, The Borgias) will portray Daimon Helstrom, a “professor of ethics who moonlights as an exorcist.”
Sydney Lemmon (Succession, Fear The Walking Dead) joins the cast as his sister Ana Helstrom, who, “traumatized by her father as a child, Ana is driven to rid the world of those like him, even as she secretly worries her father will return.”
In the comics, Daimon and Ana are the children of a demon though the show describes them as “the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer.”
The cast is rounded out by Elizabeth Marvel (Homeland, The Meyerowitz Stories) as Victoria Helstrom, Robert Wisdom (Ballers, Watchmen) as Caretaker, June Carryl (Mindhunter, Dead Women Walking) as Dr. Louise Hastings, Ariana Guerra (Raising Dion, Insatiable) as Gabriella Rosetti and Alain Uy (The Passage, Paper Tigers) as Chris Yen.
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have landed a cast loaded with this much talent,” said series Executive Producer and Showrunner Paul Zbyszewski in a release from Marvel. “From the beginning, we knew we’d need a group of actors who were multifaceted, who could play all the chords any great Marvel show promises to play, from dramatic thriller to comedy to action. It’s going to be really fun to watch them work.”
Hulu recently announced it would not be moving forward with the Ghost Rider television show set to star Gabriel Luna. Hulu is working on several animated Marvel shows including M.O.D.O.K, Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler, and Howard The Duck series that would all lead into the mini-series The Offenders.
