Venom 2 Gets New Release Date and Official Title

Venom fans will have to wait a little longer for the sequel, with Sony moving the release to June 25, 2021.

The film, now officially titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage, was originally scheduled to open October 2, 2020.

The postponement is just one of many being made by film studios in the wake of theatre closures and halted production due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The release of Morbius, another Sony film featuring a Spider-Man character, was rescheduled from July 31, 2020 to March 19, 2021.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be directed by Andy Serkis. Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams are joined by Woody Harrelson, who will play the villain Carnage. His role was teased in a mid-credits scene during the first film.

The first Venom, also an October release, grossed $856 million at the box office and $127 domestically in its opening weekend.
