Benedict Cumberbatch To Appear As Doctor Strange In Spider-Man 3

This just in: Peter Parker is about to get his third mentor in Spider-Man 3 – and this one is Stranger than ever

After learning the ropes from Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) in the first MCU Spider-Man film, and later learning to move past his death from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in the second, Peter (Tom Holland) will now learn something new from Doctor Strange in the third.

That’s right, Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to appear in the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel. According to a Hollywood Reporter exclusive, the Sherlock actor will be reprising his superhero role for the newest installment.

Coming on the heels of Jamie Foxx’s return as Electro, it very much seems like the story will be pulling from the multiverse. After all, we saw JK Simmons take up his mantle as J. Jonah Jameson at the end of the last film, and Cumberbatch himself will be dealing with alternate realities in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Perhaps the real question is: will WandaVision be responsible for all these shenanigans? We’ll have to tune into the Disney+ series in December to find out as we await news of Spider-Man and other MCU movies resuming their filming.
