James Gunn took to Instagram to announce that Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King are behind the series. “Yes, it’s true. The Lanterns DCU series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof,” Gunn said.
Mundy is the creator of the hit series Ozark for Netflix. His other work includes Criminal Minds, True Detective, and Bloodline. It has been rumored he will be a showrunner for Lanterns.
King, who Gunn announced as one of the ‘architects’ for his DC Universe, is a comic book writer whose work includes Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Strange Adventures, and Superman: Up in the Sky. This will be his first writing credit on a film or series.
Lindelof is known for his popular Emmy-winning shows LOST and Watchmen. Lindelof was also recently writing Star Wars: New Jedi Order directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy for Lucasfilm, before departing due to creative differences.
Gunn finishes his announcement by saying, “A hearty welcome to Chris and @damonlindelof as they join the DC Studios family (no welcome necessary for old @tomking_tk, who has been here nearly since inception).”
