Daniel, Johnny, & Chozen from Cobra Kai Season 6
The highlights are Daniel and Johnny’s story in this first part. Johnny more so as he does a bit of growing in these five episodes. Episode 2 surprised me with how much Johnny was willing to hold back, to not do what he normally would. He is prone to getting aggressive and angry, wanting to fight his way out. Johnny is trying to embrace Miyagi-Do, but doing it his own way. Johnny has some funny moments and serious ones too that continues to work wonders for the show.
Daniel on the other hand gets thrown for a whirl with trying to balance life and karate while also trying to understand this mysterious box from Miyagi is found. This subplot takes us to a boxing gym and we learn about a dark past involving him and Daniel doesn’t know how to handle this information. There must be a grand plan for this, and I’m hopeful they stick the landing on this. I have faith in the show-runners, I just wasn’t expecting this is what the box had inside.
Kim Da-Eun & John Kreese from Cobra Kai Season 6
One thing that has always been a success in the Karate Kid universe is the villains, and the OG is back. Kreese makes his return to the series after being put in the background for a time due to Silvers. Kreese has new students to train for the gigantic karate tournament that looms over. He is as menacing as ever, and every time he is on screen, I get a big smile on my face. The dialogue and the more we learn about him makes him a better villain. His new protege stands out in a big way, and I’m excited to see more of that dynamic.
One of the biggest rivalries in Cobra Kai’s run is Tory and Sam. They have been going at each others throats for seasons and it continues to ramp up. This season is about growth and change, while some things never will change. Robby and Miguel have mended their relationship, so they are trying to help Tory and Sam get to the same point. This story line is easily one of my favorites, then again most story lines are so well done. This one however, is one that soars and also crashes and burns.
Demetri, Hawk, Kyler, & Miguel from Cobra Kai Season 6
The action has always been top notch in this show, and this continues with these 5 new episodes. We even get a college gray brawl that felt right in the moment, sure it was silly. With that said, this is also the same show that ended its second season with a massive school fight. Each fight felt impactful and you can tell the creatives behind this show are always trying to push the limits on fights. It’s not always about the physical fights, but the emotional ones as well were handled well. How they continue to outdo themselves is insane and amazes me.
There are many story lines to follow, and not once did I feel I was overwhelmed or missing anything. Everything is laid out and made very clear what is happening. The only time it isn’t, is when you aren’t meant to know what exactly is occurring. The ending of this part was shocking but not too surprising as it was building up for a bit. The wait for the next episodes will be a nightmare.
Some Of The Miyagi-Do Cobra Kai Season 6 Cast
What could happen in Part 2? There are many things to speculate with the next 5 episodes. Will Tory be able to redeem herself after joining Kreese? Will Johnny and Daniel settle their dispute? What resolution will there be with the mysterious box? I for one am excited and nervous about the outcomes of many things. I am hoping Tory finds her redemption, and turns on Kreese. She worked so hard to turn things around. Same thing can be said about Johnny and Daniel. The wait for the next episodes is ridiculous, I want it all now.
Cobra Kai continues to push itself and bring us along on a journey that we won’t ever forget. The hope is the next Karate Kid film will honor what Cobra Kai pulled off and possibly spin-offs? The creatives behind the series hope to continue and tell more stories. Based on their track record, I expect Cobra Kai to end its run on a high note, I can’t wait to see what is next for our beloved and not so beloved characters. What a great start it is, and I know will continue to do so till the end next year.
