SDCC Exclusive Interview: 2025’s “Lilo & Stitch”

The 2025 “Lilo & Stitch” remake grossed over $1 billion and was the first movie in 2025 to reach that milestone. Disney brought members of the cast to SDCC ’25. And, I made my way to the pressline to chat with Tia Carrere, Sydney Agudong, and Maia Kealoha, stars of the film.

The remake continues to build buzz among fans, new and longtime alike. We dive into the heart of the film, check out my conversations with Carrere, Agudong, and Kealoha below.

Tia Carrere (Mrs. Kekoa and original Nani voice actor)

“I love that we figure out a way in this new iteration of the film to have Nani uplifting herself and also staying connected to her sister.”

Tia shared how it felt to tell the story of actual Hawaiians and their real-world struggles. And, she discussed how it feels to show this story in a new way to a new generation.

Sydney Agudong (Nani)

“I almost quit before I got this audition.”

Sydney shared her parallels with Nani, how she honored the character’s legacy, and how she brought some of “Sydney” in the role.

Maia Kealoha (Lilo)

“My favorite moment on set was probably playing pranks on my director.”

This is Maia’s first role, and she is growing in her craft. She shared what it was like to play in iconic character and how she learned actors don’t have to be exactly like their characters. Afterwards, we laughed about the prank she played on her director.

2025’s “Lilo & Stitch” 2025 is currently available on Digital for everyone to buy or rent at home. It arrives on 4K UHD/Blu-ray/DVD on August 26.
