It has been reported that Scarlett Johansson will be joining the cast of The Batman – Part II. There is still very little known about the upcoming sequel. There are many theories about who the villain could be in the film, as well as what source material Matt Reeves and co-screenwriter Mattson Tomlin could draw inspiration from.
One of the most popular theories about The Batman – Part II is that it will bring elements from The Court of Owls. This comic book run focused on a secret society that, unbeknownst to Batman, was running everything in Gotham City. The main reason for this theory is that The Batman included a storyline where Bruce’s mother’s family, The Arkhams, hid information about their history of mental health.
If the film is going to adapt The Court of Owls, this may tell us who Scarlett Johansson will be playing. In the animated adaptation of the graphic novel, Batman vs Robin, it is revealed that Bruce Wayne’s love interest in the film, Samantha Vanaver, is the Grandmaster of the Court of Owls.
At this point, this is all speculation on rumor and nothing more. Scarlett Johansson could just as easily be playing Vicki Vale, who is most known for being portrayed by Kim Basinger in Tim Burton’s Batman.
