It: Welcome to Derry is the first season of a planned three-season story that explores the cycle of violence Derry experiences. The first season takes place in 1962, 27 years before the events of the first film, set in 1989. We are introduced to a new group of children who have to battle everyone’s least favorite clown. The series was positively received by audiences and critics, garnering an 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season is currently in development, aiming for a release sometime in 2027.
Home Video Over Streaming
As is the case with almost all home videos, the video quality of the 4K UHD Blu-rays presented with the It: Welcome to Derry season 1 is way better than what you would get through any streaming platform. The compression that is required to stream anything always compromises the image as well as the audio tracks, but with 4K UHD Blu-ray, you don’t run into any of those issues.

Verdict
The first season of It: Welcome to Derry proves that the world of Derry can be just as compelling on the small screen as it was on the silver screen. Allowing audiences to learn more about the history of Derry and its horrible relationship with Pennywise. The 4K UHD Blu-ray presentation of the series is easily the best way to watch the show. The bonus features included in the complete first season may leave you wanting more. There aren’t any audio commentary tracks, and most of the featurettes included are available on social media outside of the extension for a few of the Inside Derry special features. If you are a fan of Stephen King and the world of Derry brought to us by the Mushiettis, this is a worthwhile addition to the It collection.
