During the always antcipated Cup ‘O Joe panel at NYCC Marvel announced the latest addition to their ever growing line of Star Wars titles. Charles Soule (Inhuman, She-Hulk) and Marco Checchetto (Avengers World, Punisher) will enter the era of the Prequel Trilogy with Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin.
In an interview with Brian Truitt of USA Today Soule describes the plot they have in store for Anakin and his Jedi Master:
He and Obi-Wan are in a spaceship heading back to a diplomatic fleet when they get a distress call from a remote deserted planet. When they land, the Jedi find a mountainous place with deep valleys containing huge roiling clouds of green mist that cover the surface. “It’s a place that’s designed to have many, many secrets,” Soule says, “and it does.
Marvel Comics has thrown their full support behind the Star Wars line of comics. The team of Soule and Checchetto is yet another example of the creative might that has helped propel Star Wars as Marvel’s hottest comic book property.
Not only are the writer and artist two of the best creators working at The House of Ideas, but they’ve both shown to have a great handle on the Star Wars Universe already. Soule just wrapped up his amazing Star Wars: Lando miniseries, and Checchetto is currently blowing readers away with his work on Journey To The Force Awakens: Shattered Empire. There is no reason to believe that Marvel’s Star Wars hot streak will end anytime soon.
